The Mercedes-Benz G-wagen has become such an icon in the automotive world. Its boxy shape, square cut doors, and spare tire hanging off a rear side-hinged door are all recognizable features that have been there since the vehicle's introduction in 1979. What's amazing is while the current models still have these features, the first redesign of the vehicle didn't come until 2019. Black Horse Garage is proud to represent one of these second-generation G-wagens with this radiant white 2019 Mercedes-Benz G550.
Casual observers to the 2019 G550 will think the vehicle is unchanged from its predecessors, but after closer examination you will notice things like the edges of the car are softer. The G550 still has three locking differentials, but the front and rear are 1.6 inches farther apart now and the front one is in an independently suspended front axle. This is main reason for the improved ride quality.
The G-wagen is powered by a 4.0-liter V-8 twin turbo engine, producing 416 horsepower. This is such a drastic difference from the original 1979 model that had only 71 horsepower! This particular car has just over 10,000 miles on it, has automatic transmission, and is all-wheel drive.
When you get into the interior, you forget about the ruggedness of the SUV and immediately feel the luxury. The seats are a classic brown leather, and the trim is covered in brown and black leather with the woodgrain interior package. It is a Mercedes-Benz, so it has all the fancy electronic seat adjustments, including heat and cooling options, but these front seats have multiple massage settings, so your ride becomes even more relaxing during your drive.
